Halloween sketches

So for my sketches i decided to design cute candy people to contrast to the horrific ideal that they eat humans on halloween.

Though i found them looking a little too much like adventure time i was quite content with this style.
But after checking out some of Mark Rydens stuff i decided to play with style and add some realistic features to see what i could create
I went back and tried to play around with some more designs but these wernt looking as good as the others.

It was at this point i was finally getting somwhere with one design, my marsh mellow man
It was when i redid him one more time did a new idea come into fruition
And here lies where i am now.
As much as i love the idea of creating cute adorable sweet people, i just couldn't do it right. I tried to make it look different but if i went realistic then it would lose its cute value and if i drew it cute than it would just look too cartoony and to be honest i can do better than that.

It was only when i was looking at burnt marshmellows did i finally realise what i could do for a concept.

I'm going to draw a marsh mellow boy with half his face burned dressed up for halloween at a trick or treating.

The thing is that the marsh mellow is actually a real boy, i'll probally put him with a bunch of normal looking children to emphisize this and maybe a reflective puddle as key points.

The idea behind this is that the child is soo horroficlly burned that he see's himself as a cute adorable marshmellow as a means of dealing with the situation.

More sketches of this and final thumbnails of my finished piece to work with this idea.

Final Tree

Ah here we are. Yeah i do like the design and the tree definately has character more so than any other tree i know, i just wished i was more enthusiastic about it because it really didn't turn out great. i meen i've done some decent stuff but this just looks half decent. But any hu trees done, now whats that next assignment to do?

Not to self needs to crop more.
Actually from a distance it doesnt look too bad. Problem is professionally its rubbish. cant get a job with this crap. i bet people can do this in a few hours.

tree quick sketch

The Tree

Appauligise for the delay. But here is the tree i referred to earlier its located at a cemetery in charwood.

As soon as i got this assignment this tree was the first thing that came to my head. I almost feel bad just to reference this tree because it just wont look as good as this tree. If it wernt raining i would have sketched out this tree here and there and quite frankly i'm tempted to even after this assignment is over.

What fascinates me about this tree is that i've never seen anything like it. How can a tree be hollowed out?
Have one side dead.
But the other side still blooms.
The images all above are the same tree. I don't even have the words to describe how amazing this tree is. It looks so daunting and horrible its almost beautiful. This is a tree that defiantly has some character

I don't normally upload a full sized image but i felt it was important on pictures that show its detail.

Sketches are on their way showing this tree, and a composision to use it.

But my idea, call it lazy, is to draw this tree. to an extent. and put it in a place that fits such a huanting tree.

If you look closely near enough every image of the tree, you can make out some sort of face. i could circle them if it would be easier but i feel its fun to notice them youreself. Yet anouther thing to give this tree some character

Tree mood board

Damn im not sure on this assignment. But without further ado heres my mood board for trees.
Finding decent atmospheric trees is harder then your adverage alien piece because its hard to come by.

I look for different trees to convey certain moods and atmosphere as i feel its the more interesting route to take.

Though funny enough i know of this amazing half hollowed out tree that i'll snap some photos for that i'll most likely use for my final piece because frankly this tree is probally one of the most interesting trees i've ever seen in my life.
Now i know that isnt much coming from a 21 year old student who hasn't traveled around very far.

But you'll see what i meen when i upload these pictures.
So in the meen time check the mood board for some twisted looking trees (none of them are as good as my own tree)

Surreal Piece. An Adverage Day on the moon

Please Click for the original size.
This is my final surreal piece. As to make up for me not being in class I'll explain the reasons behind my final piece. As i mentioned before the idea was to create myself standing on the moon whist using my brain as bait to fish onto planet earth to "fish out of ideas"

Using a google as a reference to create a "google fish" and a bird to create a book bird as a means of the things i use to gather research in generating my ideas.

I never did a space painting before so I'm really happy with how the earth, space and moon turned out. I used cool blue colors to create an almost ocean feel to it as well.

As for myself on the moon, I'm really happy with how it turned out despite not looking very pixary.
Instead it looks very Bastion like so ironically i prefer it.

Any regrets would be the lack of a fire fox as i thought it would look really cool, problem is not only would it clash with the cool colours but it attract too much attention.

The 2nd issue is that i don't actually have a focus point for this image but i find that it being surreal i can get away with it.

Overall I'm really happy with this piece I'de go as far and say its one of my best works and most complete.

Sorry I wasn't in but hopefully this would be enough to annotate my work.
See the wait was worth it :)

More sketches

For my moon surreal piece i asked myself when i fish for ideas what things do i fish out for.
So i started off with a google fish, swimming around and catching the brain as bait, the fish is designed based on the google tab logo.

The other image is a bird book. Flying around the world because books and birds look alike, i get a fair amount of inspiration off of birds
This is a thumbail for a layout of fishing on a moon
This is just a few quick sketches of myself practing fishing which is done really badly
Anouther idea was to do a Tv Satelite floating around the planet.
And finally a quick sketch of myself standing on the moon, honestly i have no idea why i drew this one but never the less a guess abit of practice makes perfect
